2024 Accepted Items & Drop-Off Fees:

STYROFOAM RECYCLING (COMMERCIAL):

✓ Large Commercial Amount Styrofoam: $250 per load or transaction (up to 40 yards)
✓ Small Commercial Amount Styrofoam: $30 per cubic meter (per level-filled “super sacks” or bulk bag)

Must be:
✓ Clean & Dry
✓ White
✓ #6 Polystyrene (check for a marking on the bottom that reads “PS #6”)
✓ All items subject to inspection & refusal if unclean or in a state deemed unrecyclable

RIGID PLASTIC RECYCLING:

$60 per cubic meter (per level-filled “super sacks” or bulk bag)

Accepted Items:
✓ #2 HDPE, and #5 PP hard plastics (must be separated from other materials and cleaned out)
✓ Schaeffer bins ($20 per bin with wheels, $10 per bin without wheels) Please rinse off with a hose before dropping off.
✓ Planter pots & trays
✓ Buckets & pails
✓ Coroplast signs / Election signs
✓ Child car seats ($10 per infant car seat, baby car seat, or booster seat)

SOFT PLASTIC RECYCLING (COMMERCIAL):

✓ $30 per cubic meter (per level-filled “super sacks” or bulk bag)

Must be:
✓ Clean & Dry
✓ Clear & Stretchable
✓ All items subject to inspection & refusal if unclean or in a state deemed unrecyclable
X No construction materials (Waste-to-Energy available at $40 per cubic meter)

How it works

For a fee, we accept commercial quantities of hard to recycle items. Clean recyclables such as white Styrofoam (expanded polystyrene / PS #6), clear soft plastic (stretchable), and expired baby / child / infant car seats. Not sure if your items fall under these categories? Send us a photo of what you have at: [email protected] to verify whether we can recycle or recover the material.

Compostable Liners / Bags & Indoor Recycling Sorting Bins

If your recycling service provider accepts BPI-certified compostable bags in your green bin, you can purchase from our depot in boxes of 30pcs, 90pcs, or by the case at 1300 pcs.

We offer various sizes of BPI-certified compostable liner bags and indoor sorting bins perfect for your office, business, or home use. Send your order requests & inquiries to: [email protected]

Child Car Seat Recycling 

Our North Van depot accepts public drop-off for child car seat recycling for a fee of $10.00 each. Please remove any fabric pieces that you can prior to drop-off. The rigid plastic portion is recycled with a local material recovery facility.

Closure of Red Bag Recycling Drop-off

Please note that as of November 2019 we have phased out our residential Beyond the Blue Box/ Red Bag recycling from the public. We will continue to accept child car seats for recycling, and offer secure paper shredding services, as well as accept commercial recycling of Styrofoam (expanded polystyrene – must be white, clean & dry) and Soft Plastics.

As many local government depots now exist for recycling drop-off, we ask that residents utilize these facilities. The North Shore Transfer Station (2 minutes away from our depot) accepts similar materials – crinkly laminates are accepted in the “other flexible packaging” stream at no cost.
