Where Classic Cars and Community Meet: Waste Control Services at the 2026 Downtown PoCo Car Show

Waste Control Services at Poco Car Show Vendor Booth

Some weekends stay with you long after the engines go quiet. For our team at Waste Control Services, the 2026 Downtown Port Coquitlam Car Show was exactly that kind of weekend — two days of gleaming chrome, proud owners, curious kids, and a community that knows how to come together.

We were honoured to take part this year as a Silver Sponsor, and it marked a meaningful first for us: our very first time joining the antique and classic car community here in the Tri-Cities. Stepping into an event with this much history and heart was a genuine privilege, and the welcome we received made it clear we’d found the right place to be.

A Silver Sponsor’s First Ride Through the Tri-Cities

Being new to a community event can feel a little like arriving at a family reunion you’ve only just been invited to — but the crowds in Port Coquitlam made us feel right at home from the first morning.

The real star of our booth, though, wasn’t any of us. It was our miniature front-load truck, which turned out to be an unexpected magnet for the youngest members of the crowd. Kids lit up the moment they spotted it, peppering our team with questions about how the big trucks work, what happens to their garbage after pickup, and — of course — whether they could take one home. Those little moments of wonder were some of our favorites of the whole weekend, and a good reminder that the work we do every day is genuinely fascinating when you see it through a five-year-old’s eyes.

More Than a Car Show – A Weekend That Brought People Together

Here’s what surprised us most: the Downtown Port Coquitlam Car Show 2026 celebrated so much more than automobiles.

Yes, the vehicles were stunning — but the show is really a full-day festival for the whole family. Alongside the displays, guests enjoyed a live entertainment stage featuring local bands and performers, a wide range of food vendors and exhibitors to eat and shop from, and a family zone packed with games, climbing walls, obstacle courses, and other kid-friendly activities. That combination of music, food, and community spirit is what turns a car show into a day out that everyone can enjoy.

But the strongest part of the weekend was the way it brought people together. On Sunday, downtown Port Coquitlam’s streets became shared public spaces where different generations could walk, talk, and discover a common interest. Grandparents pointed out the cars they’d once driven; kids saw craftsmanship they’d never imagined; neighbours who might otherwise pass each other by stopped to chat.

In the end, the show celebrated craftsmanship, personal expression, history, and the connections that form when a community gathers around a shared experience. Whether someone joined from behind the wheel, watched from the cruise route, or simply spent Sunday exploring downtown, there was a place for everyone. Our friends at Poco Living captured photographs and videos throughout the weekend, preserving the vehicles, the people, and the moments that made the 2026 event so special. The engines may have gone quiet, but the stories and community memories are here to stay.
