The Return of a Classic: Our Quirky Alternate Logo Lives On

The Red Bin of Happiness –

Waste Control Services’ ‘blast from the past’ alternate logo from the 90’s makes a reappearance!

Visitors to our Coquitlam WCS head office at 51 Glacier Street are greeted by a familiar face.

If you’ve been with us for a while, you might recognize this cheerful character. The Red Bin of Happiness once appeared on Waste Control Services’ invoice paperwork, and adorned our first office walls, proudly serving as an alternate logo back in the day. He’s a little piece of WCS history, straight out of the 90’s, brought back to remind us where we came from and what makes us who we are at the core.

At Waste Control Services, we’ve always believed that work doesn’t have to be all business all the time. Our returning mascot embodies that spirit perfectly — a reminder not to take life too seriously, to find joy in the everyday, and to have a little fun while we’re at it. Because life is short, and though waste management services and recycling collection services in Vancouver might be just one small way we make an impact in this world, positivity, creativity, and community are what drive us and give us true purpose.

Bringing this nostalgic piece of our past to life was a team effort. A huge thank you to our friends at Area 58 for their fabrication craftsmanship and for helping us recreate this symbol of our company’s quirky, can-do attitude (one of our team’s core values).

So the next time you stop by our Coquitlam office, take a moment to say hello to our not-so-little red friend, the “Red Bin of Happiness.” May he be a reminder for years to come that after all this time, our roots, our personality, and our sense of fun and zest for life are still very much alive.  Who knows, you may even see The Red Bin of Happiness around in your community one of these days…

Our owner Al, in WCS’ very first office (back when we only had one office, when it was located where our very own WCS Depot in North Vancouver lives today), with the Red Bin of Happiness up on the office wall.
