This past weekend WCS volunteered recycling services for the Canadian Cancer Society’s North Shore Daffodil Dash in Ambleside Park, West Vancouver. The event included a 1km walk and 5km run to raise funds for research and prevention and support for those currently suffering from cancer. Almost $10,000 was raised for the Canadian Cancer Society through the event! Many family friendly activities were also organized such as a yoga class, a tug-of-war with North Vancouver Firefighters, and live music by Kaeli McArter.

WCS provided two recycling stations with bins for organics, mixed containers, mixed paper, and crinkly plastics. By having these stations almost all of the event’s waste was diverted from landfill – less than 10 pounds of garbage was generated! Thank you Canadian Cancer Society for all the hard work you do to prevent and help Canadians suffering from cancer!
