Position: Afternoon Route Supervisor

Location: Burnaby, BC

Schedule: Monday to Friday 9:30am - 6:00pm

Overview of who we are looking for:

WCS is adding a second Route Supervisor to cover the Monday – Friday 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. shift. The primary focus of the role is to oversee the safe and efficient day to day operation of our Drivers and fleet vehicles with a key emphasis on providing outstanding customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • In conjunction with the Morning Route Supervisor, responsible for scheduling Driving Team and preparation of route sheets
  • Participate in route structuring & sequencing
  • Coordinate weekly wash schedules for fleet vehicles
  • Provide recommendations on staffing levels to Operations Manager
  • Conduct driver evaluations/assessments
  • Participate in Driver orientation/training
  • Assess and report safety hazards and implement safety precautions as necessary.
  • Conduct incident investigations and complete incident reports
  • Implement and oversee workplace health and safety programs, as directed
  • Conduct site checks to resolve safety and customer issues; investigate damages and coordinate repairs
  • Responsible for Noise bylaw infractions & enquiries
  • Conduct weekly fleet inspections
  • Respond to customer calls.
  • Provide Dispatch coverage when required.
  • Responsible for Weekly and Monthly reporting

Job Requirements:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working in a diverse and evolving group dynamic
  • Mechanical aptitude and computer literacy are required
  • Proven leadership skills, ability to motivate others, resolve disputes and provide constructive feedback
  • Previous industry experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and suitable abstract (Class 3 with Air Endorsement would be an asset)

Position: Front Load Driver - Class 3

Location: Burnaby, BC

Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week)

WCS is looking for a full time class 3 (air endorsement required) driver with or without experience in our industry with the daily objective to safely complete designated collection routes in our Front Load Division.

 Responsibilities:

  • Class 3 with air endorsement
  • Strong knowledge of Metro Vancouver roadways
  • Strong communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Able to perform physically demanding job
  • Capable of performing daily pre & post trip inspections

Position: Rear Load Driver

Location: Burnaby, BC

Overview of who we are looking for:

WCS is looking for a full time (40 hours per week) Rear Load Driver with or without experience in our industry. This role is required to operate a single axle Rear Load vehicle in a safe and responsible manner, while completing assigned routes. This individual must maintain customer relations to the highest standard with highly developed interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect vehicle at the start and end of the route/shift to ensure safe operating conditions.
  • Refuel and/or add required fluids such as oil or coolant as deemed necessary.
  • Complete the appropriate paperwork daily, including Pre/Post Trip Inspection forms and Route Sheets accurately.
  • Operate the equipment safely and efficiently while complying with all government regulations and WCS policies and procedures.
  • Communicate with Dispatch/Management concerning delays, unsafe sites, incidents, breakdowns or any other maintenance issues.
  • Clean the vehicle, including the interior and bulkhead.
  • Organize the route sequencing and keys, remotes etc. as necessary

Requirements:

  • Class 5 driving license, with Air Brakes Endorsement
  • Strong knowledge of Metro Vancouver roadways
  • Two years of experience in the waste management industry is preferred.
  • Driver’s abstract with no contraventions.
  • Ability to work in a diverse and evolving group dynamic.
  • Ability to work in a demanding environment, while maintaining a positive and respectful work atmosphere with the other employees.
  • Ability to work with little to no supervisions at times with the added expectation to work in a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to perform physically demanding job
